Dryer

Dryer in the galvanizing process drying and preparation.

The dryer is the furnace where metal parts pass through before any actual galvanizing. During this process, desiccation and preheating take place.

A dryer’s action reduces steel splashing and ejections during its descent into the zinc bath, also decreasing thermal shock and the furnaces’ working times. A dryer often requires extra burners to allow its correct functioning.

There are different types of dryers: static or dynamic. The former type of dryer is of old designing and consists in a pit where combustion fumes get conveyed directly. This kind of facilities’ efficiency is mild and often generates imperfections such as salt “burning”. The latter dryer category is the most effective. It can be in chamber or tunnel form. This system’s importance lies in its capability to preheat materials on a high temperature. That way, the conditions for the reaction that creates the protective layer improve, reducing the overall galvanizing process time and improving its quality.
