Scrubbing filters

Filtering System

Scrubbing filters are abatement systems that are based on the use of a liquid medium (usually water) to separate pollutants from fumes. Abetment is essentially performed through the vaporized liquid impacting on the pollutants suspended in the fumes. In order to obtain such a result, fumes are conveyed at low speed through a washing tower, where the vaporized liquid interacts with mobile parts to increase scrubbing surface. The scrubbing filter reuses vaporized liquids as they fall back in a collection basin at the bottom of the washing tower. A good filter management allows to keep the washing medium in good condition and postpone its disposal for long times.

A filtering system as described here can continuously work without major stops, save for periodic maintenance. Abetment by scrubbing units can achieve high levels of pollutants caption with a relatively low operational cost, proving efficient on many different pollutants, provided they are wettable or reactive to water.

Gimeco has been deploying scrubbing filtering systems on acid fumes coming from pretreatment tanks, allowing full legal compliance and extremely interesting cost effectiveness.
