Efficient acid fume capture and abatement system
No modern day hot dip galvanizing plant can do without an efficient acid fume capture and abatement system. Over the years, different solutions have been brought to market, sometimes with little efficiency, or high cost of operation. Typically, “open air” capture systems are offered to galvanizers. These systems are expected to capture acid fumes at the top lip of tanks, or in openings on the surrounding floor. They are extremely limited in scope and cost a great deal of energy and money as they require the suction of enormous volumes of air and fume.
Thanks to great engineering experience and well tested solutions, Gimeco can design extremely efficient capture and abatement systems for acid fumes, based either on sliding covers on single tanks or full enclosed tunnel over the entire pretreatment area. The latter is Gimeco’s preferred solution when it comes to innovative and efficient handling of acid fumes.
The pretreatment tunnel is constantly under a light depression, allowing to minimize escaping fumes. This, in turn, means total protection for the building structure, as well as separation from the rest of the plant, with great impact on the steel structured deployed as well as for the workers operating nearby. Last but not least, Gimeco’s pretreatment tunnel is compliant with the most stringent environmental regulations worldwide.
